David Utting has lectured and tutored at university level in Mass Communication, Journalism, Film Theory and Literature.  He spent three years as a Doctoral Student researching communications policy and the take up of new technologies such as the internet and Pay TV.

For four years, David was a daily newspaper section editor specialising in communications, and technology with The West Australian, a newspaper with a circulation of up to 340,000 per day.

He has extensive local government experience having served as the senior press secretary to the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Lucy Turnbull.

As senior Ministerial media advisor in NSW with responsibility for extremely challenging portfolios including child protection, juvenile justice, disability and aging, David is highly conversant with issues and crisis management.

He has worked as a communications and investor relations manager for an Australian-based, listed company, chaired by Hon Neville Wran AC QC, with over a thousand employees throughout Australia, Hong Kong and the US.

David Utting's comprehensive investor relations experience includes expertise in shareholder, fund manager and analyst relations and he is fully conversant with relevant disclosure laws and procedures.

He has worked on a diverse range of commercial and political campaigns, privatisations, brandings and launches in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and New Zealand.  Industries worked in include Mining and Exploration, Energy, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, Property, Financial Services, Utilities, Transport & Infrastructure, Beverages & FMCGs and Technology.

David has international research experience having visited major research and maufacturing facillities in Helsinki at the invitation of Nokia, and Japan at the invitation of Seiko-Epson. He has also researched projects with Time-Warner in the United States as well as research in the UK.

David Utting  holds a Bachelor of Science (UWA), a Graduate Diploma in Journalism (Murdoch), a Master of Arts in Literature & Communication (Murdoch) and a Diploma in Small Business.
